Let me start by paraphrasing what artist Sead Kazanxhiu said recently: 2022 has been a golden year for Romani contemporary art. Sami Mustafa: Fairy Tales that Tell Your Story, and Cultural Transmission over Space and Time

November 28, 2022
Some of my happiest memories as a small child are related to my father telling stories during the long, cold nights of a winter when there were power cuts due to the Yugoslav wars. Those were the happiest moments during those unhappy times. My father’s strong bond with his seven children was a foundation of...

Organized as a collateral event of the 59th edition of the International Art Exhibition of Venice, the Roma Pavilion was a point of great interest on the Biennale’s crowded and extremely competitive map. And rightly so! Hosted this year by the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti (the Palazzo Loredan) and commissioned by the...

Painter Eugen Raportoru stands out both through the compositional value of his creations and by the themes addressed, which include significant and subtle references to Roma culture and history, thus endowing meaning to his ethnic belonging, the backbone of the artist’s inner constitution.
