ERIAC Grant Awards – List of FSTP Beneficiaries 2024

In accordance with the duty of transparency and rules on granting procedures, reinforced by the contractual framework with the European Union as the main donor, ERIAC is glad to publish the list of FSTP beneficiaries awarded  under ERIACNET4EU project financed by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV) of the European Union.

 

NUMBER OF GRANTS AWARDED: 9

TOTAL INVESTMENT: € 83,750.00

 

Following the competitive call for projects, ERIAC received, in total, 20 applications from 9 European Union member states. The Jury, in a two-stage selection process, has awarded 9 projects for a total investment of € 83,750,00. The awarded grants are between 4.750 and 15.000 EUR (rate of the project support is 100%), with a duration of 6 to 12 months.

 

We at ERIAC look forward to seeing your ideas for changing narratives about Roma in Europe through advocacy, cultural diplomacy and intercultural exchange between Roma and non-Roma; on strengthening the capacity to protect and promote EU rights and values; and on increasing citizen awareness of EU rights and values, become reality with our and support of the European Union!

Country/Location: Czech Republic

  

Project title: Significant Days of the Roma Nation

Project duration: July 2024 – June 2025 (11 months)

 

Budget received: € 15,000.00

 

Summary of the project:

 

Project focused on Roma community’s important dates: Roma Holocaust Memorial Day; International Romani Language Day;International Roma Day. Aims to raise awareness, break stereotypes via high-quality presentation of Roma artists and inspire youth.

 

 

Target group:

 

The target group includes both Roma and non-Roma individuals, Romani artists (singers, musicians, writers, visual artists,actors), politicians, representatives of significant artistic and cultural institutions in the majority society, influential stakeholders,and collaborating Roma organizations (approximately 10 organizations) and wide public. Approximately 2,000 people areexpected to participate in the cultural events mentioned, minimaly 3500 views online.

Project title: The Enlightened Night of Roma Arts against the Dark Days of Antigypsyism

Project duration: July 2024 – July 2025 (12 months)

 

Budget received: € 15,000.00

 

Summary of the project:

 

The project aims to organize a sleepless illuminated night of Roma arts performances (literature, theatre, music, visual arts), featuring established and emerging Roma artists, to develop and promote Roma culture as a tool to combat antigypsyism.

 

Target group:

 

Roma community (taking into account the gender balance – making sure that girls/women are fairly included): high-school anduniversity students participating to identity training and creation camp and to Illuminated night of Roma arts; artists fromdifferent fields (literature, theatre, music and visual arts) from Romania and Serbia (preferably a member of ERIAC)performing at Illuminated night of Roma arts.Majority society/participating public and mass-media participating to the public event.

Project title: Observers

Project duration: August 2024 – July 2025 (11 months)

 

Budget received: € 15,000.00

 

Summary of the project:

 

The project aims to create a new play, theater performance, related video, and educational material focusing on the experiences of Roma intellectuals in Hungary highlighting a taboo and the interdisciplinary contexts of Roma dramas.

 

Target group:

 

We will target diverse audiences by the performance of “Observers” about Roma intellectuals stories in state socialist secretagent system. The video recorded performance, the translated play and the related educational material and also theinterdisciplinary workshop in Berlin will target academics, researchers and artists. Young Roma students will be targeted byworkshops in Budapest. We will reach 150 persons offline and 1500 by online dissemination.

Project title: RʳOMA LEPANTO

Project duration: April 2024 – May 2025 (12 months)

Summary of the project:

 

RʳOMA LEPANTO is a visually impressive art installation (and conference) that takes the historical Lepanto naval battle as starting point for an acute debate about how Roma are continuously excluded but in fact part of European history and society.

 

Target group:

 

RʳOMA LEPANTO confronts European audiences with its past. An artistic approach, an empathic encounter of people in artswill open up a vision of an inclusive Europe: Roma are a part of Venice, the Venice Biennial, of Europe and European history.This vision shall be shared with the professional and untrained audiences of the Venice Biennial. Visitors of the exhibition andespecially young Roma shall leave with a shiny image of the arts and with a different approach towards European history.

Project title: Advocate for the Museum of Romani Genocide and Resistance

Project duration: August 2024 – February 2025 (6 months)

 

Budget received: € 6,000.00

 

Summary of the project:

 

The project consists in creating a committee of important historians, intellectuals, politicians and journalists who can carry outa strong advocacy action to create a Museum of Romanì genocide and resistance in Milan

 

 

 

Target group:

 

Not talking about those dead makes it easier for the Italian state and society not to talk about the 180,000 living people todaywho suffer atrocious persecution( the first beneficiaries of this project, young people in particular ). It will also benefit ourtransnational network and the movement, the schools in the region with which we will make collaboration agreements, andsociety in general .

Project title: Pilote Action”Roma Eurovision” – Roma Cultural Inclusion and Preventive Antigypsyism   Tool through Culture

Project duration: July 2024 – January 2025 (6 months)

Summary of the project:

 

The project is a pilot with Roma communities from three Baltic States, offering an innovative form of Roma positioning across the EU. It aims to combat antigypsyism in an engaging way for broader European societies.

 

Target group:

 

Target group are Roma communities from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia:Lithuania: RCC, Baltic region Baltic Roma women association, Sare Roma Centre;Latvia: Romu Kulturas CentrsEstonia: European Roma Forum in Estonia. Second target group is broader society of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and societies of other EU countries and Romacommunities in other EU countriesthrough sharing this project results on social media, video 􀂦les, banners, video ads, YouTube shorts, publications.

Project title: Experimental Archeology of Flamenco

 

Project duration: July 2024 – July 2025 (12 months)

Summary of the project:

 

Through an exercise in ‘experimental archeology’ of flamenco we will generate empirical knowledge about the genesis of flamenco

 

Target group:

 

The target population is, first of all, the citizens of Barcelona who go to cultural spaces, as well as cultural tourists inBarcelona. In order to reach the largest possible audience, we will look for a central exhibition location in collaboration withBarcelona City Council. We also target the Roma community living in the Barcelona area, sharing knowledge with them aboutroma authorship of flamenco, but from inside the institutions, as the exhibition will be in a public spaces.

Project title: Romani Design: Fashion is Activism

Project duration: July 2024 – January 2025 (6 months)

Summary of the project:

 

The Romani Design FASHION IS ACTIVISM capsule collection and multidisciplinary performance is an artistic concept of four elements: a collection, an event with fashion show, a workshop, an exhibit, a social media campaign and academic research.

 

Target group:

 

The Romani Design FASHION IS ACTIVISM Exhition project targets Roma communities, fashion enthusiasts, art and cultural professionals, activists, and socially conscious individuals. It also appeals to educational and academic circles and the general public. The project includes an exhibition aiming to promote Roma culture, inclusivity, and sustainability through fashion.

Project title: RomAware

Project duration: July 2024 – July 2025 (12 months)

 

Budget received: € 4,750.00

 

Summary of the project:

 

An advocacy campaign based aimed at promoting the inclusion of Roma history and culture in the educational curricula ofGreece and Romania, supported by comprehensive targeted research and policy recommendations.

 

Target group:

 

Primary beneficiaries are the Roma communities, and academia, including educators, and students in Greece and Romania.Secondary beneficiaries include policymakers including the National Roma Contact Points and Ministries of Education in bothcountries and the broader society, who will gain a greater appreciation for cultural diversity and inclusivity. Finally the Councilof Europe will benefit from this project, as RomAware will support RECOMMENDATION CM/REC(2020)2.
