ERIAC General Assembly Appoints Eight New Members to the Barvalipe Academy
ERIAC GENERAL ASSEMBLY APPOINTS 8 NEW MEMBERS TO THE BARVALIPE ACADEMY

The first General Assembly of the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) took place on 17 December, bringing together associate members, representatives of the ERIAC Board, and the ERIAC management.
The General Assembly appointed eight new members to the Barvalipe Academy. Following internal elections conducted in each of the four thematic sections of ERIAC, the names of the elected representatives were presented to the plenary of the Assembly. All gathered votes were in favor of formally appointing the representatives of the thematic sections to the Barvalipe. The new Barvalipe members are:
Arts and Culture:
- Mihaela Dragan (Romania)
- Emília Rigová (Slovakia)
Research and Publication in the fields of Arts and Culture:
- Maria Bogdan (Hungary)
- Delia Mandalina Grigore (Romania)
History and Commemoration:
- Ismael Cortés (Spain)
- Museum of Roma Culture in Brno (Czech Republic)
Media and Information in the fields of Arts and Culture
- Gilda Horvath/ Nancy Black (Austria)
- Croatian Romani Union “Kali Sara” (Croatia)
The Barvalipe Academy is the agenda-setting and strategic body of the Institute which has an advisory and inspirational role, in order to fulfill ERIAC’s objectives.
Barvalipe is composed of 15 members – highly regarded, publicly acknowledged individuals – with competencies in the areas covered by ERIAC activities. The first 7 members of the Academy were nominated by the ERIAC Board. The appointment of the new 8 members of the Barvalipe, elected by the associate members within each thematic section, completes the process of building the Academy. Together, these 15 outstanding personalities of Roma contemporary arts and culture scene will fulfill a visionary role, helping to guide ERIAC in defining its strategy and future activities.
