We are delighted to partner with the Djelem Djelem Festival, a momentous occasion dedicated to the celebration of Sinte:zze and Rom:nja cultural heritage. About the Festival:
The Djelem Djelem Festival, in collaboration with the city of Dortmund, Romano Than e.V., save space e.V., ERIAC, Romano Svato, the Romnja in Power theater collective, and Carmen e.V., presents an array of captivating events and activities that illuminate the essence of Sintezze and Romnja heritage. This year’s theme, “Rising from the Ashes – The Heritage of Romnja and Sinte*zze as a Driving Force for Romani Future Perspectives” is a tribute to the resilience, strength, and diversity of our communities.

 

Highlights:

  • Cultural Performances: Immerse yourself in mesmerizing cultural performances, including music, dance, and theater, that reflect the heart and soul of Sintezze and Romnja traditions.
  • Literary Showcases: Explore the rich literary contributions of our communities through insightful discussions, book readings, and interactive sessions with esteemed authors.
  • International Symposium: A focal point of the festival, the international symposium on September 13th, 2023, titled “Rising from the Ashes – The Legacy of Romnja* and Sintezze* as a Driving Force for Romani Future Perspectives,” will delve into the profound experiences of women, FLINTA*, and queer members within Romani communities.
