ERIAC at the European Film Market – Berlinale 2026

As the Berlinale opens its doors, the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture returns to the European Film Market with a clear intention: to strengthen the position of Romani filmmakers within the European audiovisual landscape.

Meet ERIAC at EFM

ERIAC will be present at the European Film Market from 12 to 18 February 2026. We welcome meetings with filmmakers, producers, distributors, festival representatives, and industry partners interested in collaboration, consultation, or learning more about the ERIAC Film Pitch Deck.

Professionals attending EFM are invited to schedule a meeting in advance by contacting:

This year, ERIAC launches the ERIAC Film Pitch Deck Open Call, a new platform designed to support and strategically promote film projects connected to Romani narratives. The initiative emerges from a simple yet pressing reality. While Roma stories are increasingly present in European discourse, Roma professionals remain underrepresented in the structures where decisions about development, financing, and distribution are made.

The ERIAC Film Pitch Deck aims to intervene precisely at this level.

The platform welcomes projects in any stage of development, from early concepts to works seeking co-production, financing, or distribution partners. Selected projects will be introduced within professional contexts at the European Film Market and beyond, connecting filmmakers to producers, funders, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, and festival programmers across Europe.

The Open Call is primarily addressed to Romani filmmakers and producers, as well as creative teams led or co-led by Romani professionals. At the same time, ERIAC recognizes that collaboration is part of the filmmaking ecosystem. Submissions are therefore also open to non-Roma filmmakers developing projects centered on Romani narratives, provided that these projects demonstrate meaningful collaboration with Romani creatives and a clear commitment to responsible and ethical representation.

Projects that engage with Romani communities without Roma participation in key creative or decision-making roles will not be considered.

All genres and formats are eligible, including fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, and hybrid forms. What matters most is the strength of the vision and the integrity of the approach.

By launching the ERIAC Film Pitch Deck at the European Film Market, ERIAC affirms its commitment to ensuring that Romani stories are not only visible, but shaped by those who live them. The initiative marks another step toward building sustainable pathways for Romani filmmakers within the European industry.
