On June 5 2019, two members of the German Bundestag of the Greens – Ms Filiz Polat and Mr Erhard Grundl visited ERIAC.
Ms Polat is a member of the German Bundestag and spokeswoman for the Bündnis 90 / DIE GRÜNEN group for migration and integration since 2017. She is the Chairwoman of the Committee on Internal Affairs, Substitute Member of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid Committee, Member of the Advisory Committee on Sinti and Roma Issues, Advisory Committee on Low German Language Group Questions and Advisory Committee on Frisian Issues.
Mr Grundl is a member of the German Bundestag since 2017. In the German Bundestag Mr Grundl is chairman of the Greens in the committee for culture and media , as well as spokesman for cultural policy. He is also a member of the Sports Committee.
ERIAC executive managers, Timea Junghaus and Anna Mirga-Kruszelnicka hosted the guests, provided an introduction to the history of ERIAC, the program of activities and future plans. During the meeting, the issues related to the importance of shifting narratives on Roma and using the power of arts and culture for educating societies were discussed. The guests explored possibilities of cooperation in the future and the support for ERIAC’s mission throughout Europe. The meeting ended with a guided tour through the current ERIAC exhibition “Roma Women Weaving Europe”.
