Diplomacy Visits at ERIAC – MEP Sabine Verheyen, Dr. Robert Klinke, UNAR Study Group

Recently, ERIAC was honored to welcome esteemed guests for diplomatic visit purposes.

On 6 July, European Parliament Member Sabine Verheyen, Chairwoman of the Committee on Culture and Education visited our office in Berlin. The visit meant a fruitful and inspiring discussion that helped outline a common perspective between the European Parliament and ERIAC. We are thankful for her support and look forward to strengthening our relationship in the future.

On 7 July, ERIAC welcomed Dr. Robert Klinke, Special Representative of the Federal Foreign Office for Relations with Jewish Organisations, Issues Relating to Antisemitism, International Sinti and Roma Affairs, and Holocaust Remembrance. ERIAC was invited to Berlin by the Federal Foreign Office in 2017, thus this meeting proved a perfect opportunity to discuss our common vision. We are thankful for Mr. Klinke’s insights and supportive comments and we are excited to continue this crucial partnership, too.

It was also a pleasure to host our friends and institutional partners from Italy, who visited the ERIAC office in the frame of a study tour “Fighting Antigypsyism: A Cultural Journey between Memory and Contemporary Issues”, promoted by the National Office Against Racial Discrimination (UNAR), the Italian Focal Point for the National Roma and Sinti Strategy for Equality, Inclusion, and Participation (2021-2030), and Formez PA, the implementing body of the project. The aim of the study visit is to address the topic of historical and contemporary Antigypsyism, to build a European network and transnational cooperation on these issues, while promoting new synergies and the active participation of institutions, associations, and young Sinti and Roma.
We are eager to continue the hard work and be committed to our alliances and supporters on every level of diplomacy.
