BIO

Born 1983, Wolverhampton, England.

First BA (Hons) in Fashion & Costume Design 2004, Birmingham Inst. Art & Design, UK.

Royal Shakespeare Costume Bursary Award (one year apprenticeship) 2004-2005.

PGDipCert in Therapeutic Arts, 2010, IATE London, UK.

I’m a practicing artist-maker in textiles, having developed professional work in the areas of theatre costume, puppetry and therapeutic storytelling 2004-2015. Since 2016 I’ve worked exclusively in hand woven textiles, a process that includes blending and spinning raw natural wools into tonal shades and working with textiles for the home, exploring the symbols and context of domesticity (The Mythic Domestic), maternal mental health, heritage hand craft and folklore.

I have lectured in the UK as a module and workshop tutor for BA (BCU) and MA (Royal College of Art) programmes (2006-2009), and contributed the symposium “Makers and Tools” in Oxford, UK 2019. I have also lectured in textiles at Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland, 2019.

I’m published in Woven & Worn (Canopy Press 2019) and The Selkie (Magpie 2018).
