Open Call for Young Roma Leaders: Apply for Romanipe Camps in Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia
Across Europe, young Roma are organising, mobilising their communities, speaking up and taking initiative. What is often missing is sustained support, stronger networks and opportunities to build on that work. Recognising this need, Roma for Democracy has launched Romanipe, a long-term programme supporting young Roma to develop their skills, strengthen their voices and become active contributors and future leaders in their communities and institutions.
The programme starts this November with Inception Camps in Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia, each welcoming approximately 100 participants. Young Roma aged 18–35 living in any of the three countries are invited to apply. No degree or previous experience is required, and exceptions to the age range are possible. Young women are particularly encouraged to apply. Travel, accommodation and meals will be covered for all participants.
The programme welcomes participants interested in politics, communications, technology, education, research, organising and other ways of making a difference in their communities.
Inception Camps
• Romania: 13–15 November, Bucharest. Application deadline: 5 November.
• Bulgaria: 20–22 November, Sofia. Application deadline: 12 November.
• Serbia: 27–29 November, Belgrade. Application deadline: 19 November.
Each camp offers hands-on training in organising, campaigning, public speaking and working with the media. Participants work together on real challenges and explore practical ways to take initiatives forward in their communities. After the camp, they stay connected through a growing national network, with opportunities to keep learning and to take on new roles and responsibilities.
