Award-winning actress, director and producer Alina Șerban, shares her experiences from the ImpACT Workshop series in Cannes. This is a unique chance to learn firsthand from her journey, get an inside scoop on film production at one of the most renowned film festivals in the world, and gain inspiration for your own creative project. 

 

Șerban was the recipient of a scholarship by ERIAC in partnership with Marché du Film and ImpACT Lab, as a result of ERIAC’s open call for Roma producers. The workshops took place in the period of May 7-18 and were focused on diversity, sustainability, and the film industry’s future.

 

The webinar is intended for producers, film professionals, and directors of Roma origin (primarily but not exclusively), who would like to learn more about networking opportunities in Cannes as well as gain insights on different aspects of film production. Șerban will share her own experiences but also practical knowledge obtained during the ImpACT Lab workshop series.

ImpACT Lab is a program designed to foster international co-production opportunities and guide producers to create meaningful, sustainable, and impactful films. The workshop series aimed to foster an exchange of ideas between producers, about sustainable production practices, inclusion in every step of production, definition of impactful content, and reflection on the current industry climate and its evolution. 

Alina Șerban (1987, Bucharest) is a Roma film and theatre director, founder of Untold Stories Company. Her short film, ¨Letters of Forgiveness,¨ won “Best Short Film” at Ake Dikhea International Festival (2022). For ¨I Matter,¨ she was named “Best Producer of a Romanian short film” at Indie Producers Indie Film Festival (2023) and won “Best Short Film” at Torino Short Film Market (2021).
