ERIAC Family Music Competition

During lock-down, on International Roma Day (April 8, 2020), ERIAC published a call for Roma musicians, and the future generations of Roma musical talents to stay at home, while enrolling for the GRAND PRIZE of the online ERIAC ROMA FAMILY MUSIC COMPETITION!

ERIAC received over 160 videos from 365 musicians from 20 countries and engaged over a million Facebook viewers between April 8 and May 16, 2020.

The finalists of the competition – the top 15 videos – were selected based on popularity and not the number of views. 15 videos with the highest total number of Likes and Shares were sent to the international jury for their review. The jury members – Dr. Carol Silverman, Mónika Lakatos, Miquel Àngel Vargar, Riccardo Sahiti and David Pena “Dorantes” – selected the winners through anonymous voting online.

Rules and Selection Protocol of the ERIAC Family Music Competition:

Send ERIAC your music recording with video on one of the following channels by April 30:

• Facebook messenger to European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture ERIAC
• Email with the subject “Family Music Competition” (eriac@eriac.org) you can send a zip folder or Wetransfer file if the file is too large

Deadlines and technical instructions:

• Minimum 1 minute and maximum 3 minute long recording of a chosen song
• Send the name of the family or band, your location and the title of the song/ performance when submitting the material.
• Share and like your favorite videos until 10 May. The 15 most shared and liked videos will be sent to the jury. Due to the high number of applicants, ERIAC raised the number of finalists from 10 to 15 families/music groups.
• By May 16, 2020 the 15 most shared and liked videos are reviewed by the international-expert jury consisting of professional musicians and music experts: Dr. Carol Silverman, Mónika Lakatos, Miquel Àngel Vargar, Riccardo Sahiti and David Pena “Dorantes”
• Prizes are handed out (sent) already in the month of May!
