Romani Film Art in Berlin – Screening of Alina Șerban’s Short Films And “Gipsy Queen”

 

Join us for a captivating cinematic experience brought to you by our esteemed ERIACNET4EU grantee, Untold Stories Association. As part of their Roma Power project, the Untold Stories Association will organize the screening of the works of the talented Roma actress-director Alina Șerban and the multi-awarded German-Austrian production “Gipsy Queen” by Hüseyin Tabak at Filmkunst 66.

    Date: November 14th and 15th

    Time: Doors open at 7:30 pm, Screening starts at 8:15 pm

    Location: Filmkunst 66, Berlin

November 14th:

 “Letter of Forgiveness” – A groundbreaking film written and directed by Alina Șerban, offering a unique perspective on Roma slavery.

 “I Matter” – Another compelling creation by Alina Șerban, exploring the challenges faced by a Roma girl in an orphanage striving for education.

“Gipsy Queen” – An award-winning production featuring Alina Șerban, who received the Best Actress Award at the 2020 German Film Awards for her outstanding performance.

About Alina Șerban:

Alina Șerban is a writer, actress, film director, and the first Roma director whose theater play, “The Best Child in the World,” is part of the National Theatre of Bucharest’s permanent repertoire. A pioneer of Roma feminist political theatre in Romania, Alina’s impactful work against discrimination spans over 14 years, using film and theatre to amplify untold, marginalized stories.
