Zejna Murkić to Open the Tajsa Roma Cultural Heritage Prize 2025 Gala

ERIAC is pleased to present Zejna Murkić as the opening performer of the Tajsa Roma Cultural Heritage Prize 2025 Award Ceremony & Gala, taking place on 29 November 2025 at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest.
Zejna Murkić is a singer from Loznica, Serbia, who began her professional career in 2009 and later established a successful solo path. She is known for her distinctive artistic style and for proudly embracing her Romani identity, which has naturally led her to engage in human rights and equality advocacy. She has collaborated with UNHCR and various organizations supporting marginalized communities and women’s rights.
Her artistic versatility includes vocal work for the film Toma and performances in Disney concerts. Zejna competed for three consecutive years in Pesma za Evroviziju, the Serbian national selection for Eurovision (2022, 2023, 2023), earning wide recognition from audiences and critics.
As a songwriter and composer, she continuously blends artistic expression with social purpose. She recorded Čaje Šukarije and Ederlezi with a children’s choir made up of shelter users and vulnerable Romani children, supporting their social inclusion and encouraging confidence and aspiration. Last year she released the short film Nova rasa (New Race), featuring the songs Saoroma, Roma, and 112, a project that brought together music and activism in an authentic and deeply emotional way.
At the Tajsa Gala, Zejna will perform Gelem, gelem and Roma, accompanied by pianist Aleksa Stanković, offering a powerful opening to the evening.
