Strengthened by a strong Romani Identity and a close and supportive Family and Community upbringing, I have always been drawn to occupations that contribute to individual or group empowerment.
Firstly working as a Social worker, in the Community development field, then with individuals as a specialist Mental health worker.
This work lead to my belief in positively impacting the individual through systemic and holistic approaches. Observing the power of the Arts to effect communication and change.
As National Co-ordinator for Gypsy Roma Traveller History month, over a three year period and with Central Government funding I was able to help initiate and action a variety of projects and events that contributed to the consolidation of GRT Identity, History, Heritage and pride.
