International Holocaust Remembrance Day: “Never Again” Is a Responsibility
Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honour the victims of Nazi violence: six million Jewish people, hundreds of thousands of Roma and Sinti, and countless others persecuted and murdered, including disabled people, LGBTQ+ individuals, and political dissidents.
We honour their memory by refusing to forget and by renewing our responsibility to resist intolerance in all its forms.
“Never again” is not just history. It is a commitment to today.
Across Europe and beyond, divisions are deepening and democratic foundations are being tested. The conditions that enabled fascism are not confined to the past, they can re-emerge within the very systems meant to prevent them.
Remembrance must extend beyond commemoration to include critical engagement with the present, ensuring that democratic structures remain effective and responsive.
Arts and culture offer vital spaces for remembrance, reflection, and resistance. They help preserve memory, give voice to those silenced, and challenge narratives that seek to erase or distort history.
Share this message with your family, friends and networks. Together, we can ensure that “never again” becomes a reality for all.
