International Conference “From Slavery to Movement and Policies”

The Roma Education Fund, the Civic Platform Aresel, Roma Entrepreneurship Development Initiative โ€“ REDI and European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture โ€“ ERIAC are inviting you to an international conference titled โ€ž๐—™๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—บ ๐—ฆ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐˜๐—ผ ๐— ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€โ€, which is scheduled to kick-off on February the 20th, at ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿต:๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ, ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐˜๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฒ (๐—˜๐—˜๐—ง/๐—จ๐—ง๐—– + ๐Ÿฎ).

 

The event is organized on the 165th anniversary of the liberation from slavery of the Roma ethnics in Romania. On February the 20th 1856, the infamous institution of Roma slavery was ended with the enactment of the โ€žLegislation for the emancipation of all Gypsies in the Romanian Principalityโ€. With the final act of abolition, almost 250,000 Roma slaves became legally free, after almost 500 years in slavery.

 

This online event, which will be streamed live on Facebook, will feature the first public projection of the film “LETTER OF FORGIVENESS” – directed by Romanian Roma actress Alina ศ˜erban.
