ERIAC Serbia Program Manager Named to the Terraforming Steering Committee

Nadja Greku, Program Manager of the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) Serbia, has joined the Steering Committee of Terraforming, the foremost organization in Serbia for education about the Holocaust. It was founded as an independent NGO in 2008 by Miško Stanišić and Nevena Bajalica. Alongside Brankica Janković and Davor Salom, this appointment reflects a continued commitment to regional cooperation in the fields of memory culture, human rights education, and the fight against all forms of discrimination.

Through exhibitions, educational programs, research initiatives, and public advocacy, ERIAC continues its mission to ensure that the history and experiences of Roma communities are recognized, documented, and integrated into broader public discourse and historical representation.

At a time when democratic governance, social cohesion, and inclusive cultures of remembrance across Europe are increasingly contested, it is essential to strengthen not only participatory spaces in which diverse perspectives are acknowledged, but also institutional mechanisms through which Roma are substantively engaged in decision-making processes, the development of strategic responses, and the production of broader social impact.

The appointment of Nadja Greku to the Steering Committee of Terraforming is a recognition of the agency, expertise, and institutional contribution of Roma in shaping key social and political processes. Such engagement contributes to increasing the visibility and public recognition of Roma communities, alongside other communities whose perspectives have historically been marginalized within dominant frameworks of public memory and historical interpretation. In this context, the culture of remembrance should be understood not solely as a retrospective practice, but also as a contemporary civic and political instrument.
