Gennaro and Santino Spinelli Performance at Carnegie Hall Marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Carnegie Hall in New York, one of the world’s most prestigious platform of artistic achievement, will host on February 2, 2026, from 8:00 PM, the Concert for the Day of Remembrance / Samudaripen, in the Weill Recital Hall. Promoted and organized by the Union of Roma Communities in Italy (UCRI) on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the event aims to contribute to the recognition of the Samudaripen — the genocide of the Roma people during World War II — alongside the Shoah, through the universal language of music.

The internationally renowned Romani musicians Gennaro Spinelli, solo violin, and Santino Spinelli, solo accordion, will take center stage, joined by selected members of the European Orchestra for Peace, to offer an ethno-symphonic program that moves fluidly between genres and traditions, combining reinterpreted classical repertoire, traditional Romani music and original compositions.

Supported by the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC), together with the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, UNAR of the Italian Prime Minister’s Office, ERGO Network and IRU, the initiative is part of the artistic and cultural path promoted by UCRI for the enhancement of Romani culture, already presented in Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Teatro San Carlo in Naples. The event at Carnegie Hall represents the international continuation of this project, bringing the memory of the Samudaripen and intercultural dialogue to one of the world’s most prestigious stages.

Admission to the concert is free, with reservation required, in order to ensure broad participation from the public and institutions.
