Krzysztof Gil – born in 1982, comes from Bergitka Roma group. Graduate at School of Arts of Józef Kluzy in Krakow, currently a third year graphics student at Academy of Fine Arts of Jan Metejko in Krakow. He grew up at Topolawa district in Nowy Targ, where many Roma lives. Although most of his peers chooses a different way of life, he managed to avoid negative influences thanks to his talent. He is a rare example of a young Roma, aware of the value of his gift, who know how to find himself in the contemporary world. It turns out that talent, or extraordinary skills, could be a peaceful weapon against prejudices and negative stereotypes. It could work as a lift to a better life, as well as an example for the other Roma,- giving them the faith and strength in the strive to achieve his dreams. Although very young, artistically gifted Roma has already proven quite successful. He was a guest at the Presidencial Palace as one of twelve gifted Roma children, received a scholarship from the Foundation “Communication without barriers” and from the Jolanta and Aleksander Kwaśniewski. He was assisted by Dr. Hans Guggenheim patronage from United States in 2004-2007, which allowed him to attend classes in drawing and art history in Krakow. Has had many exhibitions, and his career is growing rapidly. Most of works of Krzysztof Gil combines several different techniques. He reconciles naturally graphic and painting art.
