THE EUROPEAN ROMA INSTITUTE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE (ERIAC)
IS THE FUTURE HOST OF THE ROMARCHIVE
Statement on the occasion of the RomArchive Launch
January 24th, 2019
On 24 January 2019, RomArchive – the Digital Archive of the Roma website will go online, making Romani arts and cultures visible and demonstrating Roma contributions to European cultural history.
The European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC) is the future host of the RomArchive, following the decision in April 2018 of the RomArchive Advisory Board. ERIAC is committed to taking over the Archive to contribute to its future growth, development, and dissemination.
The hand-over of the RomArchive is an opportunity to reinforce Roma ownership of the RomArchive as the biggest online repository of Roma knowledge and cultural heritage. Through ERIAC membership structures, the past and new contributors to the RomArchive will be given an international platform to engage in collective efforts of making the RomArchive thrive.
ERIAC envisions performing the RomArchive in the future with the following objectives:
ERIAC embarks on the task of performing the RomArchive into the future. ERIAC will bring the knowledge to physical spaces throughout Europe, use its extensive network of partner mainstream arts and culture institutions, and channel the knowledge and experience of ERIAC members and Roma and non-Roma collaborators. The RomArchive in ERIAC welcomes contributions from all institutions and individuals inspired by the mission represented by the RomArchive.
